One of the things I care about most with Chef in Boots is making sure this business truly serves you — your needs, your schedules, and your real-life routines. As a personal chef, meal prep service, and catering company in Colorado Springs, my goal has always been to provide fresh, convenient meals and unforgettable food experiences that actually make your life easier. I’m also intentional about keeping my meal prep services affordable for everyday families, so high-quality, chef-prepared meals can be something you rely on — not just something you splurge on.
Recently, I sent out a customer survey to better understand what’s working, what you’d love to see more of, and how I can continue to grow in a way that supports busy individuals, families, and event clients here in Colorado Springs and the surrounding areas.
And wow… y’all delivered.
I received so many thoughtful responses, creative ideas, and honest feedback, and I’m incredibly grateful for every single person who took the time to share. A lot of the same questions and themes came up, so I wanted to take a moment to answer them here and give you a little insight into what’s happening behind the scenes at Chef in Boots.
This felt like the perfect opportunity to start something new — a blog and content series where I can share weekly meal prep menus, catering events, behind-the-scenes moments, and continue answering your questions along the way.

1. How is your meal prep different from other services?
One of the biggest differences with Chef in Boots, and a big part of how I approach meal prep in Colorado Springs, is that I don’t operate on a subscription model or mass-produce meals days or weeks in advance. Instead, everything is designed to be flexible and built around real, fresh food. I shop locally for ingredients rather than relying on bulk food deliveries, which allows me to be intentional about quality and choose the best products available each week. Meals are typically prepared just 1–2 days before delivery, and the majority of what you’re getting is made from scratch with very limited use of pre-made or heavily processed ingredients. I also prep for multiple families at once rather than offering fully customized meal prep, which helps keep product and labor costs down and allows me to provide high-quality, chef-prepared meals at a more affordable price point for everyday families.
With that approach, you might notice some natural variation in reheating times depending on the dish, and that’s completely normal — it’s simply the result of real food that hasn’t been overly processed or sitting for extended periods of time. At the end of the day, this isn’t factory-style meal prep — it’s chef-prepared food made with care, and it’s the same food that my family and I are eating too. That level of trust in what I’m serving is something I don’t take lightly, and it’s something I want every client to feel confident in as well.
2. Why don’t you offer subscriptions?
This was one of the most common questions — and such a good one. I intentionally keep my meal prep service in Colorado Springs completely flexible, meaning there are no subscriptions, no order minimums, and no expectation to order every week. Life changes week to week, and your meal prep should too, so whether you have family coming into town and need a little extra or you’re heading out on vacation and don’t need anything at all, you can order exactly what works for you, when it works for you. A lot of my clients really value this because it gives them full control without any pressure or commitment — just simple, flexible meal prep that actually works with your schedule, not against it.

3. Where are meals prepared, and how do pickup and delivery work?
All meals are prepared in a licensed commercial kitchen here in Colorado Springs to ensure everything meets proper health and safety standards. Everything is made from scratch with very limited use of pre-made or heavily processed ingredients, which allows me to focus on real flavors and high-quality meals you can feel good about. I offer both meal prep delivery and pickup options in Colorado Springs, depending on what works best for you, with delivery available within my service area and pickup offered during a set window on delivery day. Meals are prepared fresh just before delivery and are designed to last about 5-6 days in the refrigerator when stored properly, giving you a full lineup of ready-to-go meals for the majority of your week without sacrificing quality or freshness.
4. Can we expect more variety on the menu?
Yes — and this is something I’m always working on. One of my biggest goals with weekly meal prep menus in Colorado Springs is to keep things interesting while still offering meals you’ll actually want to come back for week after week. You can expect to see a continued mix of different cuisines, rotating proteins, seasonal ingredients, and expanded breakfast and lunch options, along with a balance of comfort meals and lighter choices. As the business continues to grow, I’m also hoping to expand my team, which will allow for even greater variety on the menu. We’ll start by building out additional breakfast and lunch options based on your feedback, and then begin layering in some fun extras for dinners as well. I’m constantly testing new ideas, paying attention to what sells, and using your feedback to guide what stays and what evolves so the menu continues to feel fresh without losing the favorites you love.
5. Can you accommodate allergies or dietary restrictions? Do you provide nutrition info?
This is something I approach with a lot of care and transparency. While I do my best to offer a variety of options each week that can fit different preferences and lifestyles, I am not a dedicated allergen-free kitchen and cannot guarantee there is no cross-contamination. That said, I can typically accommodate many major allergies, and I’ve recently started adding gluten-free symbols to my menus for items that either are gluten-free or can easily be made gluten-free, making it easier for you to identify options that fit your needs.
As for nutrition information, I do have a background in this — I actually have a minor in Nutrition and know how to calculate full nutritional breakdowns. However, my focus has always been on serving everyday families, and I’ve found that the majority of my clients are more focused on convenience, quality, and variety rather than detailed nutrition tracking. With a rotating weekly menu, there simply isn’t enough time to accurately calculate nutrition facts for every single item each week. Instead, I focus on using fresh, high-quality ingredients and creating balanced meals you can feel good about. And if you ever have specific questions about ingredients or a particular dish, I’m always happy to help however I can.
As Chef in Boots continues to grow, my goal is to keep building something that truly works for you — meals that are fresh, flexible, and realistic for everyday life. Whether it’s expanding menu variety, keeping things affordable, or continuing to refine how everything operates behind the scenes, every decision I make is rooted in the feedback and support from this community. This FAQ is just the beginning of a larger conversation, and I’m so excited to continue sharing more with you through weekly menus, catered events, and a closer look at what goes into it all. If you’re ready to experience it for yourself, take a look at this week’s menu and see what fits your week best.
